Career quote

“It's hard to know what you want to do when you're young, so seeing what different industries are like and having the opportunity to spend two weeks with a very important developer in the city-nothing can beat that.”

— Tiana Lewis, Squamish Nation, Senáḵw Mentorship Program Alumnus

Tiana Lewis, a Squamish Nation member and master's student in Community and Regional Planning at UBC, joined the Senáḵw Mentorship Program for a two-week development mentorship program. She gained cross-departmental insights into Nch'ḵaỷ's role in community planning, toured the Senáḵw site, and worked closely with the team, solidifying her career path in development planning.

Since completing the program, Tiana has transitioned into a full-time role with a not-for-profit. The program's success is reflected in participants like Tiana.

The program's impact is further highlighted by other participants who have moved into full-time roles after their placements. Additionally, the mentorship provides valuable insights, helping participants identify both their passions and areas they may not enjoy, offering a well-rounded foundation for future career decision.
